Lieutenant General Dato’ Sri Azzuddin bin Ahmad (Retired) was born on 17 May 1946 in Alor Star, Kedah and received his secondary education at the Sultan Abdul Hamid College in his hometown and went on to complete his cadet training at the Malaysian Royal Military College. Commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant into the Royal Malay Regiment (RMR) on 17 Feb 1966 and began his stint as an infantry officer in the 4th Battalion of the RMR.

After serving three and half years in the Prime Minister’s Department, he returned to DISD and was posted to the Royal Malaysian Police Special Branch (SB) Headquarters in Sarawak as the State Military Intelligence Officer (MIO).

As a professional Military Intelligence officer, while in service, Dato’ Sri Azzuddin Ahmad had established a close working relationship with various government agencies and corporate companies within Malaysia as well as abroad. Even after his retirement, he is still keeping in touch with his former colleagues in the military as well as those in the corporate world. He has strong contacts particularly within ASEAN countries, Asia, Turkey, Bosnia Herzegovina and South Africa.

Dato’ Sri Azzuddin Ahmad holds a Master’s Degree in Defence Studies which he obtained while studying at the Royal College of Defence Studies in United Kingdom. A keen sportsman who played for the Malaysian Armed Forces football team from 1970 until 1989 in the Malaysia Cup. During this period, Dato’ Sri Azzuddin Ahmad was also selected to represent the Malaysian National Football team in the early seventies.

In recognition of his almost 33 years of dedicated active military service to the Malaysian Armed Forces and his contributions to the nation, Dato’ Sri Azzuddin Ahmad, have been bestowed with numerous honours and awards at the Federal and State as well as the Armed Forces levels. Some of the outstanding honours and awards are, the Dato’ Setia DiRaja Kedah (DSDK) and Setia DiRaja Kedah by the late His Royal Highness the Sultan of Kedah, Johan Setia Mahkota (JSM) and Kesatria Mangku Negara (KMN) by the late His Royal Highness the King and the Panglima Setia Angkatan Tentera (PSAT) from the Malaysian Armed Forces.

In October 2009, while serving as the General Secretary of the Football Association of Malaysia, by the late His Royal Highness the Sultan of Pahang bestowed him the Darjah Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang (DSAP). Subsequently he was awarded the title of Sri Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang (SSAP) in October 2017.

Currently Lieutenant General Dato’ Sri Azzuddin Ahmad is the Chairman of Maruss Sdn, a company involve in production of small arms ammunition and supplying of defence related products to the Malaysian Armed Forces and other Malaysian Government Enforcement Agencies.
